APRIL NEWSLETTER

The month of March produced two important developments for the Olympic Wrestling Club. First, our wrestlers performed incredibly well in the State Tournaments. We are proud to claim six State Champions who train at Olympic. They are:

· Rory O’Donnell – 140lb Champion (St. Joseph’s)

· Dan Vallimont – 135lb Champion (Jefferson)

· Trevor Melde – 112lb Champion (Intermediate)

· Dean Sullivan – 95lb Champion (Midget)

· Connor Melde – 70lb Champion (Midget)

· Dylan Milonas – 70lb Champion (Bantam)

We’re equally proud of our other State Place finishers:

· Nick Brandreth – 5th Place – 140lb (Emerson/Park Ridge)

· Andrew Silber – 5th Place – 171lb (Scotch Plains)

· Jeff Rottinger – 5th Place – 60lb (Junior)

· Tyler Milonas – 6th Place – 103lb (Jefferson)

· Ryan Corbosiero – 6th Place – 145lb (Cedar Grove)

· Harry Sullivan – 8th Place – 60lb (Bantam)

Congratulations to all of these fine wrestlers. Their hard work and dedication definitely paid off as they stood on the victory stand! Well done, men.

The other significant event for us is that we’ve finalized our lease for our new facility! We’ll be moving into our new home on Sunday, May 2nd, and we’re really excited about it! Our wrestling facility will be one of the biggest and best in Bergen County. Our wrestling mat space alone will be approximately 1,800 square feet. And with our strength and conditioning apparatus we’ll have a state of the art facility to go along with the best coaches in the area. Florian and his team are anxious to get working in the new facility beginning the process of building next year’s State Champions!

During the month of April we’ve temporarily located our Club in Westwood at Robin Horneff’s Performing Studio. The building is a block off Rt. 502 just past Pascack Valley Hospital on Hooper Street. Take a left on Hooper and go to the end of the street. We’re in the Horneff Studio in the back of building labeled 24 Booker.

One other important point. Olympic will be offering a Summer Camp this year. The dates we’re looking at are Monday, June 28th through Thursday, July 1st. Florian is assembling a strong group of guest instructors and we are excited about our program. So mark your calendars and be on the lookout for more information in the weeks ahead.

In closing, Florian and I want to thank you all for your support over the past few months. It’s been an exciting (and sometimes turbulent time!). We have a room full of dedicated wrestlers who have all the potential in the world. Our job is to turn that potential into performance. It’s a mission we gladly accept.
