FALL NEWSLETTER
October is here and wrestling rooms will be open in a
matter of weeks! At Olympic, we’re hard at work getting our wrestlers ready for
the upcoming season. We’ve had a full room all Summer, and now that Fall is
here, we have many new and returning wrestlers. We’ve expanded our hours to
accommodate all our wrestlers and keep our program productive and safe. Check
out our website for specific nights and times. Our room is full of tough kids
covering all ages and weights. Both Florian and I have high expectations for
many of our guys this season. We’ll be reviewing individual goals with all of
our wrestlers over the next few weeks in order to align our expectations with
their objectives.
We want to mention a
few items as we embark on our new season. First, we’re proud of the premium
Olympic puts on academic performance. You’ve often heard Florian stress that
academic achievements are even more important than wrestling achievements. To
underscore this point Olympic has established a scholarship program which
will reward our most deserving high school senior scholar athlete with a $1,000 scholarship. We have established specific eligibility criteria to
qualify for this scholarship reward. You can get this information from Scott.
We’re setting up a blue ribbon panel to evaluate our candidates and select the
eventual winner. Good luck to all who participate!
Secondly, we’ve renewed our Recruitment Incentive
Program. The program is designed to reward members with free months in
return for bringing in new wrestlers. It works like this: for each new member
you bring in who signs up for at least a three month membership, we’ll give you
one month free. If you bring in two guys you get two free months, and so on.
It’s an easy way to reduce the cost of your membership…and a good way to
strengthen your wrestling team at the same time. So, talk us up with your
friends and teammates…and save some money!
Thirdly, again this winter Olympic will be offering a
special Winter Plan to all grade school (through 7th grade)
wrestlers. The plan will be similar to past years in that it is designed to
work in conjunction with Rec programs so that junior wrestlers will be able to
wrestle in their town programs and also work out at Olympic when it’s convenient
for them. The Winter Plan is available Dec 1st – March 31st.
Grade school wrestlers will be able to attend any 30 sessions at Olympic over
this four month period for only $450. See Scott or Florian for more details.
In closing we wanted to mention that the Olympic Wrestling
team competed in and WON the Long Island
Knockout Summer Duals held last month in Rocky Point, Long Island. We’re proud
of our guys who wrestled in this tournament.
Good luck to all our wrestlers this season!
